Public Company
Public company — a company that trades it shares on a stock exchange. That means that anybody can buy shares of the company and that their price is determined by the market. To become a public listed company, it has to go through Initial Public Offering (IPO). There are two ways to set up a company in Singapore that would be public. First, there are companies listed on Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX). These are the businesses that raise capital from the public. Also, companies that have more than 50 shareholders become public even if they don’t list their shares on the stock exchange. The second type is a company limited by guarantee, which is usually a structure used by charitable organizations.
